Creating an "Update Inventory" Automation

The Update Inventory trigger allows you to start an automation whenever inventory is manually adjusted in 3PLICITY.

This trigger is useful for notifying external systems whenever inventory quantities change.

Examples include:

  • Sending inventory adjustment notifications

  • Updating inventory spreadsheets

  • Notifying warehouse teams

Selecting the Trigger

From the Zapier dashboard:

  1. Click Create Zap.

  2. Click the Trigger box.

  3. Search for 3PLICITY.

  4. Select 3PLICITY as the Trigger application.

Under Trigger Event, select:

Update Inventory

Selecting Your 3PLICITY Account

Open the Account dropdown.

Select the connected 3PLICITY account you want to use.

If your account is not yet connected:

  1. Click Connect a New Account.

  2. Sign in using your 3PLICITY credentials.

  3. Click Connect.

  4. Return to the Zap and click Continue.

Testing the Trigger

Before testing the trigger, make sure you have at least one recent inventory adjustment available. If necessary, perform a manual inventory adjustment before running the test.

You can generate an inventory update by:

  • Creating a new inventory adjustment

  • Modifying the available quantity of an existing inventory item

  • Using a recent inventory adjustment that has already been recorded

After the inventory adjustment has been completed:

  1. Return to Zapier.

  2. Click Test Trigger.

Zapier retrieves the most recent inventory adjustment records from your 3PLICITY account.

Select the desired record.

If the adjustment you performed is not displayed, click Find New Records to refresh the available inventory events.

Once the correct adjustment appears, click Continue with Selected Record.

Configuring the Action

Choose the application that should receive the inventory update.

Examples include:

  • Gmail

  • Slack

  • Microsoft Excel

  • Google Sheets

  • HubSpot

  • Thousands of other supported applications

For this example:

  1. Select Slack.

  2. Choose Send Direct Message.

  3. Connect your Slack account if necessary.

  4. Click Continue.

Mapping Inventory Information

Use the + button next to each configurable field to insert information from the inventory adjustment.

Available fields may include:

  • Product Name

  • SKU

  • Previous Quantity

  • Updated Quantity

  • Quantity Difference

  • Warehouse

  • Merchant Name

  • Adjustment Reason

  • Adjustment Date

  • User who performed the adjustment

You can combine these dynamic values with your own custom text to create personalized inventory notifications.

After configuring the desired fields, click Continue.

Testing the Action

Review the action configuration.

Click Test Step.

Zapier sends a test notification using the selected inventory adjustment.

Verify that the notification is received correctly in the selected application.

If everything looks correct, click Publish.

Your automation is now active.

Every time an inventory adjustment is performed in 3PLICITY, Zapier will automatically trigger the configured workflow.

Managing Your Connection

Once connected, your Zapier integration remains available from Settings → Zapier in 3PLICITY.

From there, you can verify that your account is connected and continue managing your automations directly from Zapier.
